I grew up in California and worked my way north to Bellingham a little more than four years ago. I enjoy adventuring on the water, in the forest, and the mountains with my puppy Mochi. I work in Mount Vernon as an Osteopathic Physician and Core Faculty of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Skagit Regional Health.
How long have you been practicing at Flux Power Yoga? How did you know this was your place?
I’ve been practicing at Flux Power Yoga intermittently since its opening, and more consistently since being joined by my husband, Kitri, and my stepmother, Sharon, at Flux. I was immediately hooked by the studio feel, view, sunrises, and sunsets. I’ve enjoyed the consistent nurturing of the post yoga sweat, and I was encouraged to keep coming back by the friendly yoga teachers and community.
How has your practiced evolved and /or what benefits have you gotten in your practice and in your life?
Yoga allows me to let go of whatever arises during the day to day. It is a structured time and place for me to bring a sense of conscious awareness back into my body and breath, and to bring a sense of ease and movement into my being.
Favorite pose and why?
On a day where I have been sitting, standing, or stagnant for too long, extended side angle pose provides the most relief, and pigeon provides the most release. On a playful day, my favorite pose is flip dog.
Any advice for new yogis?
My advice for new yogi’s is to be gentle with yourself and to bring a curious mind to the exploration of getting to know what feels good to your individual body, and to delight in the different ways the same sequence can feel with the ebbs and flows of consistent practice.
What a welcoming studio! I travel for work and have been to many studios across the country and this one tops them all. The instructors learned my name the first time I went and class was hot but not too hot (perfect middle ground between working up a sweat but not passing out). I came here on a 2 week intro package and was skeptical it would live up to its 5 star rating, but it deserves them all. Thank you Flux!
Flux is a super cozy and fun studio with warm, passionate instructors teaching in a range of styles. I deeply appreciate how Flux offers accessible options to the community like their free Saturday class, BIPOC scholarship, and work-trade. I feel valued and cared for at this studio, and able to advance my practice. Also, the natural light and sunset views are exceptional, I highly recommend going to a class around that time!
Flux is incredible! Melissa and her team helped rekindle and reshape yoga in my life. I was defiantly non-hot yoga before this, but there are some really good options with Flux (though still warm). The studio is beautiful in so many ways and couldn’t be happier. I have tried most of the instructors and there is some good variety and something for everyone here. Thank you so much Team Flux!
Flux Power Yoga is First Rate. They offer an exceptional variety of classes coupled with dedicated and knowledgeable instructors with welcoming and helpful attitudes in an always clean studio setting. It doesn’t get much better!
I am so grateful to have found this fabulous hot yoga studio in downtown Fairhaven! I've taken several classes so far and enjoyed them all. Love, love, love the cold lavender forehead towel at the conclusion of class ♥️
And others agree. They just won The Best of the Northwest!
FLUX yoga is my body/soul haven after I became a member for two months now. All the instructors are as Warm and friendly as the temperature inside of the studio. I go there almost everyday to begin my day with positive energy.
I've been going here for years and absolutely love the atmosphere and teachers. There are classes for everyone and the times work well with my schedule. They also offer great retreats and special events throughout the year. Love it. ♥️🧘♀️
Flux has been my safe haven over the last two years. I have had to honor to learn from the kindest most supportive teachers. I feel nothing but safety and love while moving through my flow in class. Thank you Mellisa and Cassidy for creating such a lovely nurturing space for our community!!
I have been taking Yoga classes at Flux for over 3 years and am absolutely hooked! I love all the instructors, everyone offers a different flow and there are several styles to choose from! Power Yoga, Slow Flow but also Yin! I am very active and need to practice Yoga at least twice a week to keep my muscles strong and flexible! Flux Power Yoga is a gem! I am very happy I have found this place!
Best yoga community of all time. I have been a student at Flux for quite some time. The space is absolutely beautiful which adds so much to my practice. The instructors are knowledgeable and creative! The culture is supportive and relaxed- I love that the instructors hold space for each student to come as they are. I cannot recommend this studio enough!
